Hi,

Just reinstalled windows 10 and notice when I login in with my microsoft account it display my first and last name on the lockscreen.

Does anyone know how to hide my lastname and only show my first name?

Cheers.

Log out from ms or change local username (might not work)

Reminder⚠️

I'm just speaking from experience so what I say may not work 100%

Please try searching up the answer before you post here but I am always glad to help

-> Moved to Windows

Your options are to set local account. Which gives more freedom on settings, like only having username, not full name. And not using password. Or you can change your Microsoft account last name to something else. Like single symbol.

You could try editing your last name on the associated Microsoft account with a blank Unicode character.

Alternatively you could try changing the username for the associated account in windows and then setting the reg key that stores the full name to read-only so that it can't be overwritten by the one from your Microsoft account when signing in.

This post and the comments show how to do it https://superuser.com/a/947984/1243039

Never tried this myself and don't know if it causes issues though so do so at your own risk.

In my case, I set my last name to a unicode character.

You can use a tiny down arrow: ˑ

Or you can use a few Unicode space characters, which seems to fool the web form and works:

Try and find the position above in Charmap with the font Segoe UI, and double click on all the empty blank circled.

Then copy them and paste them in the online "Edit Name" Microsoft Account form in the "Last Name" field.
