Thoughts on Motherboards for my build?

DrewGMR

That board is fine, (doesn't have the strongest VRMs but that's not really a concern on a 3600x) but the B450 chipset is a generation old. I'd recommend you go with a B550 board instead, if you have the cash, so you get an extra generation of compatibility for upgrades. My personal recommendations are the Gigabyte B550 AORUS PRO ACAsus ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING (WI-FI) and MSI MPG B550 GAMING EDGE WIFI

Quick note: B550 boards with integrated Wifi can be a lot more overpriced than their non-wifi counterparts. If budget is a concern, you might bet better off getting a normal board with separate Wifi card.

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Peripherals/Other:

ASUS VG27AQ • G PRO K/DA • G502 Hero K/DA • G733 K/DA • G840 K/DA • Oculus Quest 2 • Nintendo Switch (Rev. 2)

Laptop (Dell XPS 13):

Intel Core i7-1195G7 • Intel Iris Xe Graphics • 16GB LPDDR4x 4267MHz • 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD • 13.4" OLED 3.5K InfinityEdge Display (3456x2160, 400nit, touch).

Got any questions about my system or peripherals? Feel free to tag me (@bellabichon) and I'll be happy to give you my two cents.

PSA: Posting a PCPartPicker list with no explanation isn't helpful for first-time builders :)

Oh I forgot, Amazon always sells the B550-A Strix for 180 but it is never in stock. If you ever catch that in stock, definately go for it.

Thank you and @Daniel Z. for the input! Much appreciated.

I was looking at some of the B550s but they are a bit out of my price range at the moment. Looking to stay in and around the $200CAD mark, which was my initial draw to the one I posted - that baby is $169CAD not USD 😎. A basic B550 with a separate card like you mentioned might be a good option, I'll check that out!
