You shouldn't be getting that low of frame rates in games, both of those games are over 15 years old and should run a lot better than that with the hardware you have.

It sounds like the 3060ti or 3070 would work well for your situation. Assuming you can find one, that is.

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Peripherals/Other:

ASUS VG27AQ • G PRO K/DA • G502 Hero K/DA • G733 K/DA • G840 K/DA • Oculus Quest 2 • Nintendo Switch (Rev. 2)

Laptop (Dell XPS 13):

Intel Core i7-1195G7 • Intel Iris Xe Graphics • 16GB LPDDR4x 4267MHz • 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD • 13.4" OLED 3.5K InfinityEdge Display (3456x2160, 400nit, touch).

Got any questions about my system or peripherals? Feel free to tag me (@bellabichon) and I'll be happy to give you my two cents.

If I recall correctly, Second Life is pretty horribly optimized, so I wouldn't be surprised to see massive frame drops in environments with lots of physics objects.

There's no reason to be buying a generation behind, especially when cards like the 3070 are reaching 2080 Super levels of performance, at an MSRP of $500 USD/

Right. But have you looked at 2060 Super availability right now? There are barely any for MSRP either. GPU stock is as bad as it was in the crypto craze of 2017. If you can find a 2060 Super for MSRP, and you want a new PC ASAP, then go for it. All I'm saying is that it's sort of a crappy time to build a PC in general, and (if you can) you might be better off waiting a little bit.

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Grab a used 2060super or 2070super if you can find one used for a decent price. $350USD or less.

Hell. Pick up a 1080 for even less

Though I doubt you need that much. You might be running into Vram limits with your current 4gb card.
