Intel Optane and RTX 3080 on X570 (Zen3)

I would like to connect a RTX 3080 using PCIe 4.0 8x

and a Intel Optane Drive using at least PCIe 3.0 4x using a normal PCIe Slot (not M.2 Slot).

Both have to be conencted directly to the CPU to get a real benefit from using Optane.

Most motherboard vendors don't explicitly state this config as compatible. Do any of you know if this will work? If possible I would like to use one of the Aorus Mainboards to get rid of the fan with the EKWB waterblock.

Cheers

why not run the optane in M.2? on zen at least 1 goes right to the CPU.

So the question is can you connect and use 4.0 and 3.0 devices to the two CPU connected slots? Unfortunately I don't have an answer for that, although I am interested if we can find the answer.

On Optane itself, have you benched its performance on chipset connected lanes? I know I've done it in the past and posted it on this forum but I'm unable to find the results again in a quick search. It made no difference to sustained speeds, but I do recall a small difference for low QD random between CPU and chipset lanes. It wasn't significant to make it not worth using on chipset.

There is a difference in Latency and some QDs it's not major. But I payed for it and would like to get the goods😃
