4x8 or 2x16 with 5900x

RAM:

https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-32gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820232867

For Zen3, is it filling the slots that gets a performance increase or dual rank?
That said is it the 4x8 or the 2x16 config that’s better to get?

2x16 so you can upgrade in the future, there is no benefit in getting 4 sticks.

also, I recommend getting 3600 c16 instead of 18.

it's been proven that 4 sticks makes the cpu faster unless you are sure that the 16gb sticks are dual ranks.

4x8gb is better unless you can guarantee the 2x16 setup has dual rank sticks, which you cant unless you buy second hand which the seller could peak in between the heatsinks for you.

Aren't most 16gb sticks dual rank by default?

It's the 8gb sticks that are questionable.

Edit: My statement is completely wrong after doing a simple google. Sometimes I'm dumb.

How are people finding new RAM that is dual rank vs. not?

My statement was wrong, added more words.
