Use old iMac as tertiary monitor?

It's not a tech problem?

Remember the iMac G5?
Well, I'm waiting on parts (still) to come in, and in the meantime, wanted to see if I could use it as a tertiary monitor via the mini-VGA port.

I don't know if this is possible or not.

NOTE:
Any solutions that require irreversible modifications to the iMac and/or soldering or adding wires/components to the inside of the iMac will not be allowed. If this is the only way, then I guess I can't.

Reason:
I don't have a soldering iron/I would like to use it as an iMac.

There's a "simpler" solution.

All monitors have LVDS connection.

You go buy a "universal lcd board" that support the imac resolution.

Dismantle everything till you can get to that LVDS ribbon.

Connect the lvds to the board and hope it runs.

well not that simple, but you can watch some youtube video.

This method usually used for people who want to reuse their laptop screen.

I did this to my broken monitors which has a broken mainboard.

but probably you cannot use it as a mac anymore.

but at least it has a new purpose.
