LTT Discord - cant join?

Fairly new to Discord, but i tried to add LTT's server, and when i click the button to join, the server appears on the left for a split second, then vanishes.

 

Any ideas whats going on?

How old is your discord account? The server requires accounts to be 3-4 months old before you can join the server. It is one of their anti-raid securities.

Ah its only a week or two old.

I thought it linked to the forum account for verification? Is there a bypass mechanism?

I do not believe it is possible to get around the account age even with extra verification added.

There's no official info from Discord admins. General requirements:

• 2FA activated
• Phone number attached (this one is Discords own thing)
• Account older than 5 months

yeah 2FA and phone are registered, but the account is new, so thats why its not working, seems an arbitrarily daft rule....

 

"Join our Discord server!!!" followed by a vague "oh well actually you cant because you need to have created a discord account 5 months before you want to use it..."

The reason is spam and raids. If there would be only smaller things, people would flood server on every WAN Show or bigger release. Or banned and salty would spam their salt into server. And so on. The server admins aren't interested of changing things for easier. Which includes ban appeals as those aren't a thing at the moment.

(forum and Discord moderation are separated, we just have somewhat direct line to Discord admins for info)
