Is my HX750i enough for a 3080 or a 6900XT

Blindsay
Go to solution Solved by Ankerson,

It will work fine. :)

Planning a new build and I was thinking of using my HX750i from my current build but I want to make sure the PSU wont limit me if I get something like a 3080 or 6900XT. CPU will likely be a 5900X, custom loop water cooling (D5 pump), a couple nvme drives and 7x Corsair QL fans

I would like to be able to overclock either card that I get as much as I can push the card on water, no extreme cooling

Thoughts?

Thanks, I knew it was a solid unit but have heard so many horror stories about how much power these new GPU's can draw haha

And they really do... ;)

IF or when you get a new PSU just update to the 850W or 1000W vers of what you have.

it should work fine unless there's a weird quirk

i mean, no point worrying about it, it's not a bad PSU so the chances of a catastrophic failure happening is very very very slim

if it does happen to have an issue (hard shut down mid-gaming, most likely) then get a new psu then

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

Once you start OCing depending on the card you get, say one of the 3X 8 Pin versions you may want to upgrade like I said to a 850W or 1000W version.

You could/will be running up to the limit or very close to the limit of a 750W PSU, just saying.

I have personally seen well over 700W power draw out of my system with my 3080 FTW3 Ultra.

And that's NOT from the wall either.

Alright well since the HXi lets me easily see how much power on the DC side, I will just make sure to keep a close eye when I start to OC. I will start with the 750 for now (I do plan on getting something like a Strix or FTW3). Appreciate the help, Thanks!

Yeah, I ran a HXI 850W with mine for awhile, was starting to get over what I wanted percentage wise of power draw.

I upgraded that to an AXI 1600.
