Is behringer euphoria um2 worth it for entry level xlr?

Will it sound a whole lot worse than say a 100 dollar interface, or is 50 bucks actually a steal?

Summary No. 

The lowest end you can consider is the UMC22 which is the next step up from the UM2 its like 60 dolars so not even that much more but the build quality and performance is just miles better.

The ONLY time the UM2 is an okayish option is if all you're trying to do is get a mic into your PC for casual voice chatting/gaming/streaming, if you're doing nothing other than that it's not a bad option. Output quality is poor, input quality isn't exactly great and IO options are lacking. If you watch the video above, the interfaces you mention performed similarly with slightly better RF rejection on the UM22. In short, they're both not very good.

While the above response suggests the UM22 as the lowest recommendable option, the cheapest interface I will recommend is the 202HD due to having 2 XLR inputs, dedicated headphone amplification and up-to-date ASIO drivers (unlike all cheaper options) which are all extremely important if you ever decide to record anything.
