8tb hdd in hikvision dvr/nvr that supports up to 6tb with the help of a Synology NAS?

I need to put a 8tb hdd into a hikvision dvr/nvr but it only supports up to 6 tb. I found out you can record to a NAS unit , so I'm assuming if i put my 8tb hdd into a synology NAS and have the dvr/nvr connect to it i could use my 8tb hdd i already bought. Is my assumption correct? (I'm asking because i dont have a synonogy NAS to test it with. )

Just put the drive in. It will probably work fine with a bigger than supported hdds. The rated limit is what they tested, not the biggest that is supported.
