Why are GPUs so expensive here

i live in Malaysia.And the new ampere graphic cards like the 3070 is 499 usd which translates to around 2k MYR.but all the prices of the 3070 here are like 2.5k.and these arent scalpers prices.we dont have supply shortages for the 3070 since its so expensive

Partly because cards in this generation have their MSRP set too low (companies are literally telling the press that they will go bankrupt if they sell cards with acceptable cooling and nothing else at MSRP, in other words AMD and Nvidia are actually losing money by selling founders cards), partly because smaller countries like Malaysia always have to pay more for these stuff due to lower shipping volume, import tax (sometimes, when they arent made within the country) etc.

What about the Ryzen processors,they are made in malaysia penang but still more expensive than their intel counterparts.(3000 series)

740 USD in Norway for the cheapest 3070. Not a single one in stock though at a certain shop..
