Oculus Rift S owners: Improve your Audio Quality by 50%for FREE with this simple mod!

i_build_nanosuits

Hey Guys!

I've been using my rift S for over a year with only the audio coming from the unit and before i tried buds, wireless buds, wireless headphones etc. and nothing is as good as NOTHING right...

But then the audio is very sub par...it's not good enough for example to do sim racing while listening to my favourite music, which is what i like to do most.

BUT, tonight i had an !eureka! moment...

If you're familiar with the Rift S audio you may have noticed that if you put your hands around your ear to kind of contain the sound there the audio gets MUCH better.

Well, here's what i did: i used plastic from an empty cookie box tray and made those very simple pieces here, now i need to find something better than scotch tape to hold them

in place I'll probably use some carbon fiber vinyl wrap i have laying around for that and post updated pics later...but it WORKS guys i swear.

You can probably make a simple one from cardboard in less than 3 minutes and test it for yourself...as soon as you lift one side you instantly notice.

The sound is louder and cleaner, i can now listen to music while driving and it sounds decent, much closer to an actual pair of cheap headphones and i actually lowered my main volume

to 90% on the oculus where it used to be at 100% and still lacking.

Pics of the mod so you can understand:

Will definitely give this a try, it should technically improve the sound, thank you!

You're welcome! :)

It does improve sound a fair bit and it's non intrusive...it's light and it's free...someone could 3d print a snap on piece like that and sell it and make a quick buck...it works.
