Will a Xeon work with this H61 motherboard?

Filingo

I think I gave up the idea of bringing back to life the LGA775 machine. And then I found a working H61 Express motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H61M-D2-B3.

I thought I'd pair it with a Xeon E3-1230 v2 and a GPU. But it doesn't show up on the CPU list:

https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-H61M-D2-B3-rev-10/sp#sp

But maybe it still supports it?

Also, do you have a suggestion on a different CPU?

Thanks

H61 DOES support Xeon, it all comes down to BIOS. ASRock and Gigabyte lineup all supports Xeon

Thanks

Should I get the Xeon E3-1230 V2 or the i5-3570k or the i5-3570?

the E5 1230 v2. It has hyperthreading, so it's more like a 3770 with slightly reduced clock speed. You cant overclock anyway so the 3570k cannot show its advantage. Xeons do not have working iGPUs however so you must use a graphics card

btw these arent LGA775 parts

yes I know I found a H61 with LGA1155. The weird thing is I found a i5-3570(non-k) for 20$... not sure if a mistake.. how much better is the e3-1230 v2 over the 3570? it's 46$ and the 3570 is 20$ (If it's not a mistake)

10-20% better roughly. But yeah these things dont sell for that much now.
