How to clone hard drive to smaller ssd?

Shrink the partition to 120GB via Disk Management.

Hello everyone,

I am trying to clone a 1tb hdd with windows 10 on it to a 120gb ssd so I can use it as the boot drive. The hdd only has around 60gb of data on it so the 120gb should be more than enough for it to clone. I have tried using Macrium Reflect but it always says that the drive isn't big enough to fit the partitions. So, is there a way for me to tell Macrium to scale down the partitions when it clones or is there another free software I can use to clone the drive?

Thanks in advance!

I am far from an expert in this so please correct me if I’m wrong.

I have used this software with great success for the scenario you have

https://www.ubackup.com/

It's free as well. Very smooth, almost one click function.

I tried using CloneZilla to clone one hard drive to a smaller hard drive and I never got it to work. I think shrinking the partition on the 1TB HDD is the best option as has been posted. Make sure to backup everything first of course.

Thank you @ragnarok0273, @Radium_Angel, and @DozerD for the help! I ended up making the partitions smaller when it copied in macrium and it worked perfectly.
