Lower End Laptop recommendation for school

My sister asked my mom for a laptop for Christmas. She asked me to look for something in the range of $250 - $350 USD. I was wondering if anyone could help me or has any recommendations. I would prefer Windows 10 for the Office suite software, but if chrome os will be better I just need help finding something in that range that will help me and work the best for it.

If she doesn't need Windows 10, I'd recommend an IPad. You can connect a keyboard and install the Office suite or Google Drive. It's built well and has a touchscreen, it will be a lot more responsive than a really cheap laptop. It would have better build quality and would be faster than most laptops at that price range.

Either get a used Thinkpad or a Chromebook.
