Smell-O-Vision is REAL

ColinLTT

Does VR just not have enough realism for you? Do you need MORE senses interacted with? Well, the Cilia might be just the right tool for that.

Tbh I think this can take off for commercial use. Like those VR playgrounds that are appearing everywhere where you can go and play VR for like half an hour.

If you want my attention, quote meh! D: or just stick an @samcool55 in your post :3

I think they should have used vivecraft + the smellivion forge mod

We certainly could have, but I thought it was more visual to have linus react to it on the big screen and actually see it work in both VR and outside of VR.

This may not be for everyone though. If the smell is strong enough, it may make people throw up, and that would be far from an enjoyable experience

I saw they had all the 3d printing files and how to make it public, are there any documentation on the internals? Would be a fun project!

Im not sure if there's bespoke documentation, but I can assure you that the Cilia dev team would be happy to help you get up and running if you have any questions - its about getting the hardware out there at this point

To make it more immersive and directionally accurate they could probably create a version with mountable containers, for example in 4 corners of the room, and have the containers move directions(some servos and pan tilt mounting) to cover angles a stationary container couldn't. This would make it more complex and expensive but awesome. And way more plausible than a moving room 🤣

Imagine this + VR + the original Far Cry. Ocean smell, jungle smell, volcano fumes, gas fumes from the jeep. gunpowder smell from the ammo/explosions, blood smell when you knife them LOL.

BTW: You can buy the aroma shooter today. They have it at your local stable - tell them you want the farting horse. Just keep it away from any open flames #bigboygotgas

Wait... Seriously?

Wow, I mean, this is getting more and more dangerous. You won't notice your house was on fire when playing VR games now.

I apologies if my comments or post offends you in any way, or if my rage got a little too far. I'll try my best to make my post as non-offensive as much as possible.
