Workarround for Displayport's Hot-plug issue?

HyPeX

Maybe someone here has a clue of any workarround to this issue so i'm asking for any help.

For those unaware, a lot of displays (My XG279Q included) have an issue where turning off the display (Power button) will cause the display to act as if its not connected at all to the PC. Normally this wouldnt be an issue, except when using multiple monitor setups, it starts throwing arround all the windows.

This is a very old issue and this reddit post explains it better than i  ever will:

So, yeah, has anyone found a way to fix this? I've been slowly going mad over this for the past two months, since for personal reasons i keep my PC on 24/7 and i choose to power off my two monitors when going to bed.

Regards

I have an Asus MX299Q with this very same issue.

I purchased it December of 2014

At the time it was a $500 29" ultra-wide monitor.

A good value and the screen still looks great!
I also keep my machine on 24/7 and would turn the monitor off at night.

When i would power the monitor off overnight, it would not come back on without disconnecting power and plugging it back in.

Tech support could not resolve this in any way and it happens on all of that model.

The monitor also has an HDMI port.

I switched to HDMI.

Hated Display-port ever since.

I do like Asus products, but I sure think about this issue every time it comes time to decide which brand.
