CPU running way too hot (90°c)

Thraxx00

So I got my new PC, I didn't built it myself but I selected everything for it. I got a intel core i7 10700kf and a rtx 2070 super as my graphics card.

Today I downloaded Battlefield 1 again, and I looked at my CPU temperatures at HWmonitor and after 3 minutes of playing they hit 90°c on most cores.

I never hit these temperatures on other games like Rising Storm 2 and Total War Warhammer 2 they usually get to 50°c - 60°c MAX!

My CPU temperatures idle at 20°c max.

So is this just a problem with very demanding games like Battlefield 1, and is there a way to fix it?

Thank you and I think it's from Cooler Master.

Is it an air cooler or watercooler?

I'm assuming it's an air cooler and a 212 EVO.

It really isn't enough for the CPU your running.

Indeed it is a air cooler. A simple fan I thought that would be enough honestly. What would be a better cooler for my CPU then?

What's your budget? What case are you using (for compatibility)?

Maybe the one who build it for you forgot to apply thermal paste ;)

that wouldn't explain the 60C (normal) temps for the games

Did the one that built the PC remove the protective plastic seal at the base of the cooler?

Sorry for replying so late but I kinda fixed it. I didn't know that 144hz is harder on your CPU so I switched back to 60hz. Now it's on 80°C, still a bit hot but better than 90°c.

Could you post a link or at least a picture to the air cooler you're using? Either your cooler isn't mounted properly or it's just not up to the task.

What motherboard are you using? Are you using default bios settings?
