Unable to Safely Remove USB Drive because of Windows Defender

Anyone have a fix for being unable to Safely Remove a USB drive in Windows 10?

 

For me Windows Defender seems to be either indexing/scanning the drive and never stops to allow a safe removal. ❓❓❓

Try to shut down the machine completely, remove the drive, turn it back on and reconnect and see if the behavior remains.
