Reset BIOS password on an HP EliteBook 8470p?

Anyone know of a way to reset/remove an unknown BIOS password on that?

But as far as I know they do not assist in unlocking BIOS passwords anymore for security reasons and so the only known way that I'm aware of is replacing the entire board or BIOS chip.

Might be a way to short some contacts on the board somewhere. Not sure.

You need to reflash BIOS chip with a programmer. Chip doesn't need to be replaced.

I mean... yes. You can do that. But to be fair... if you have the equipment and know how to reflash a BIOS chip.. you wouldn't be asking how to remove a BIOS password. It's certainly not something for the faint hearted or novices. Case in point:

Flashing the BIOS to Fix a "Bricked" Lenovo Laptop - Parts Not Included

 

The equipment alone could be more expensive than getting a replacement chip. Not saying that replacing the chip is easy either since it'll require some precision soldering. But certainly much easier than trying to flash the chip yourself.

Not really, you can even flash BIOS chips with an Arduino and a SOIC8 test clip. All less than $10. Its not user friendly but it is easier than desoldering and soldering a new chip.

Also, I repaired my Lenovo laptops bios and most of the steps described in that link are not at all necessary. All you need is CH340G (Arduino or dedicated one), SOIC8 test clip and flashrom or eeprom flashing software for Windows. I have done around 10 different device bios recovery now, none of them needed BIOS chip removal.
