Asus Aura/Armoury Crate not working with case fans

I just completed a build with a B550-F gaming mobo and a Li Lian Lancool II Mesh RGB case. Everything is working fine, but I can't seem to get the case fan LEDs to sync with either of Asus's rgb software. I've got the fans plugged into the 3 pin ARGB header and the software appears to recognize that something is there, but any effects don't apply to the fans but successfully apply to the RGB on the board itself. I don't think it's a fan issue, as when I have the controller built into the case in any mode other than ARGB control, the LEDs work. Asus support said update the Bios, but their troubleshooting steps weren't very thorough and didn't inspire confidence. 

 

Has anyone encountered a similar issue and, if so, how did you fix it? Attached is a screenshot of the Aura sync devices page for reference
