i currently have a 500W Delta 80+ bronze PSU and have a RX 580 4GB
the recently leaked RX 6700/XT rumored will have 145~156W TDP, can i just drop it in without worrying too much about power?

what exact model delta 500w, cause the bronze one is really bad on the psu tier list:

yes, the community really made the list, I'd suggest the rm650x for you, I'm trying to help you, the list says this psu should only be used with cheap igpu systems, so your lucky it can handle that system. get an rm650x, maybe an rm750x if you want to upgrade in the future

but I'm already running RX 580 which is a 185W card

well with the  6700 you can try your luck, but with the 6700 xt, it might be a bit too much on the psu, your choice

reading made me hopeful that my 550w gold PSU can run the 6700/6700xt

If you see a good price AND your current one worthy for a replacement buy a new PSU otherwise wait until the card is up for sale and reviews are published.

i never say i will buy PSU either, I'm just saying that i wonder if my current PSU will be able to handle the wattage of the said card

My PSU is in the same Tier-D from that list. It's almost 7 years old now and my pc is still fine. Did i got really lucky?

or maybe it is underrated,and an upgrade is not needed, I used the community's standard instead of my own  opinion
