is 650w PSU enough for RTX 3080 TUF

hello guys, i was thinking to upgrade my GTX 1660 Super for RTX 3080 TUF Gaming OC but the problem is i have 650w PSU, is that enough for GPU like 3080 ? 

I not thinking to make any overclocking to gpu.

should be fine, I would try it out, then if you need a 750w PSU buy one

AMD blackout rig

 

cpu: ryzen 5 3600 @4.4ghz @1.35v

gpu: rx5700xt 2200mhz

ram: vengeance lpx c15 3200mhz

mobo: gigabyte b550 auros pro 

psu: cooler master mwe 650w

case: masterbox mbx520

fans:Noctua industrial 3000rpm x6

i think it is very much less needed more power with a founders edition, but the no founders edition dont think have have as much power jumps, so you can see, if something happens, upgrade, the 80+ gold will definitly hold up

my psu is BitFenix Gold 650 W 80+ Gold Certified

i meant that the 650 will hold up if not founders edition, if my brain is not workig today and your pc decidees to blow up, get 750 w

I predict possible bad things if you try.  If I was going to do so I would order something bigger than 750w before trying it and keep it set aside in case things go bang.  That way it would be there.  It could always be returned if it works.  Even then I might want to keep it around for a week or two.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

The issue is modern CPUs and GPUs have a nasty tendency to produce wildly high transient power spikes. Fractions of a second but hundreds of watts.  A a really good PSU can often just handle them, but they have been known to trip over current protection.   While a lower wattage PSU would be fine 99.9% of the time there last always those annoying bits.

The short answer is no, it's not.

 

You need a new PSU.
