Dell S2721DGF or ASUS TUF VG27AQL1A

Hi all, thanks for reading my post.

I'm in the market for a new monitor, a 25 inch 1440p 144hz or above monitor.

I've narrowed my choices down to the Dell S2721DGF or ASUS TUF VG27AQL1A, now I'm stuck whether I go for the Asus and it's ELMB sync feature, or the more simplistic Dell. The Dell has a great panel, using the same Panel as the LG 27GL850. They're around the same price so that's no issue, I'm just not sure whether the ELMB sync feature is worth it. My Gpu is a GTX 1080, so depending on the game I can push decent frames at 1440p, but I've heard that ELMB sync is a little funny, working well at the monitors refresh rate of 170hz, but not working so well when you're pushing below the refresh rate, i.e. 100-130 fps, the strobing becoming increasingly visible and the timing becomes somewhat out of time.

Hardware unboxed stated that the predecessor to the ASUS, the VG27AQ, was a worse monitor overall than the Dell, however, since this is the updated monitor I'm not so sure.

What are your thoughts, is ELMB sync worth it?

Thanks,

Nick.

I know I'm months late to the party here, but how do you figure the Dell Panel is superior? 170Hz from the Asus monitor beats out the Dell, the IPS from the Asus beats out the Dell, and has GSYNC available - Is it just the ELMB that concerns you?

Shipping sucks

Frankly I'm not sure where they got that from either, based off what RTINGS reports. The ASUS panel is slightly better than the one in the Dell. But oh well, OP probably already bought their monitor.
