Unable to get 10GBE speeds from Unraid RAMDisk

spankaroo

Hoping someone here is getting good SMB speeds with 10GBE networking on Unraid...   I'm unable to do it.

My config:   Poweredge T640, Xeon Gold 5218R, 128GB RAM, 16x6TB NAS drives in RAID10 (pool of mirrors) ZFS array using ZFS plugin, Optane SLOG, NVME cache

---   ZFS pool is great -- but to narrow down my problem, I took the drives out of the mix & used a RAMdisk

---  iperf3 running as Server on Unraid, getting 9+Gbit send/receive with Windows 10 and Ubuntu 20.04 clients.

Isolated test:   running SMB share on Unraid RAMDisk (/dev/shm)   via smb-extra.conf

     [ramdisk]
           path = /dev/shm
           comment =
           browseable = yes
           write list = myuser
           valid users = myuser
           vfs objects =
           writeable = yes
           read only = no
           create mask = 0775
           directory mask = 0775

Using RAMDisk on client workstations as well (Windows 10 and Ubuntu)

Copy large video files from clients to Unraid smb RAMdisk:   @ 1.1 GB/s

Copy same video files from Unraid smb RAMdisk to local RAMdisks:   ~500MB/s peak

Any help troubleshooting what may be causing a bottleneck on SMB transfer from Unraid?

He seems to have the same issue as you do

So you might as well take a look at it
I gave him some ideas, you could also try it out
