£500 Gaming PC

Hi Guys!

One of my friends has recently asked me if I could build him a PC that would be able to play Planetside 2 at 1920x1080 on low-medium settings for £500.

The current components that I have selected are:

CPU: AMD FX 6300

RAM: Kingston HyperX 8GB 1600Mz

Motherboard: Asus M5A78L-M/USB3

GPU: Sapphire 7850 2GB

PSU: Corsair CX 500

Case: Fractal Design Core 1000

HDD: Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB

DVD Drive: LG 24x DVDRW

Case Fans: 92mm (1x), 120mm (1x), Fractal Design Silent Series

Amazon Wish list link:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/registry/wishlist/WDJJKJVW7BOQ

I would be highly appreciative if someone could let me know if these components will make a good PC for him and be able to play Planetside 2 at the settings he desires.

Thanks in advance J

Jack.

I would get rid of the dvd drive and save up a little more money and get the 7870.

I couldn't even find a reason to use my dvd drive if I tried XD but either way I would still save up the little extra for a 7870.

Cheers for the suggestion but for some bizarre reason he refuses to buy a pc if it doesn't have a disc drive :p

I main thing is a case and motherboard with front USB3 and a bigger HDD (500GB ones are just silly). The XFX PSU is just overall a better quality unit with a more modern internals.

pretty much took the characters off my keyboard! that motherboard has better features and 1tb is really the minimum nowadays with how cheap they are again! also i'd look at maybe this GPU: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Club-3D-Radeon-royalKing-GDDR5/dp/B007XE4CH8/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1367529522&sr=8-14&keywords=7870 i know they aren't the most reputable brand but a 7870 is a 7870! i don't have any experience with this card, but look into it, 7870 is a great card!

AMD 8350 // 8 GB Corsair Ram // PNY 780 Ti // Asus 1080p Monitor // Antec 120mm AIO // CM Quickfire TK w/ Custom Caps  // RAT 5 mouse // Audio Technica m50x // Behringer 4-line + Line6 8-line Audio Interfaces

Club3D are a perfectly reputable brand, just not common. However remember to check the shipping costs, OWCH!

I used to own a 7870 however I would keep getting black screens whilst playing games and then my monitor would go to sleep. I read up online that there are a lot of 7870's with a similar issue to what I had. I found that the problem was something to do with the capacitors on the card.

The 7870 I used to own was a Sapphire 7870 2GB OC.
