7 VS 7 - Radeon RX 6700/XT Leaked

Information regarding the next AMD graphics card that will come out after then 6900XT has been found, this time the 6700 and its XT variant. Performance numbers are not entirely confirmed yet but it is believed to be 30% slower than the 6800 if only CU is counted.

Quote

AMD Navi 22 GPU is not a mystery to us anymore. Similarly to Navi 21 and Navi 23, it leaked through macOS firmware updates, which confirmed that the GPU features up to 40 Compute Units. This is the same CU count as the Navi 10 GPU from the previous RDNA generation. What this means is that the upcoming Radeon RX 6700 series will succeed the RX 5700 series with the same core count, but with all the power efficiency, higher clock speeds the cards are expected to be noticeably faster. New information from Patrick shares some light on the power requirements of the upcoming models.

AMD-Radeon-RX-6700-Series.png

According to Patrick, the Navi 22 XT, which is expected to be used by Radeon RX 6700 XT, is believed to feature total graphics power of 186 to 211W. Even if AMD uses the higher value, it will still be lower than RX 5700 XT, which had a power consumption of 225W. When it comes to the RX 6700 non-XT, believed to feature Navi 21 XL, this model would require between 146 to 156W. This value is lower than the RX 5700 non-X series as well (with TBP at 180W). Unlike Navi 21, the 22 is equipped with a 192-bit memory bus, which means that the models based on this GPU should offer either 12 or 6GB of memory.

AMD has recently told board partners that the Navi 22 GPU will launch a bit sooner than previously planned. The manufacturer is currently expected to bring Radeon RX 6700 series in January 2021.

Thoughts: It looks like a decent 1440p gaming card, I think by then the scalper craze should have ebbed by a little, though a 40CU I think it would be a tough competitor to the 3070. The price might be good however.

it will be interesting to see what amd does here, if they make it too strong, the 6800 becomes pointless, and if they make it too weak then people will not use it, they have to make it a challenger to the 3070, but without killing of the 6800

40cu would have a tought time competing with a 3070, but I bet the 6700xt will be about 450$ (us) to try to under cut it. The 6700 at 350$ (us) to just be a sucessor to the 5700 (Non xt) which went to stores at that price.

I am still TechWizardThatNeedsHelp, just less of a mouthfull.

they might even make it 400 dollars, to make price to performance better, and make it the best budget card, also killing of the potential 3060 ti

Performance is one side of the story, the other is price. Very interested to see benchmarks and the full line-up eventually (including 3060ti?).

Less pointless = worthwhile your time and money ;)

honestly though the 6800 does sit in a very weird spot. Not entirely sure what AMD thought when pricing this one.

The thing is, scalpers always go for the top end which is already expensive and they know people who have money will pay twice as much too just to get it. When talking lower parts, that's unlikely. If someone barely scrapes up 300€ for the card, there is just no chance anyone will pay 600 or 700€ for it.

Not even reading/watching reviews for new stuff anymore. For weeks now my local Microcenter has been out of stock of AMD cpus even 3600, all RTX cards, all Amd cards except 5700 with a crazy priced water, block, most PC cases.

When asked about the RTX cards "well we sometimes get 1-3 of them in the mornings on the big truck and there's 30 people in line waiting for them."

Though it seems like it. RTX was announced in september 2020m it's almost end of november and all higher end models are entirely unobtainable even today.

I can't even find a store that has one. You can buy one blindly and hope for the best. Literally. You may get it next month, maybe next year in the spring. No one knows. That's RTX cards. You can find few RTX 3070 for 700€ and more... RX 6800 on the other hand, at least here in EU, most stores don't even have them listed. Like, at all. I don't know, are they waiting for AIB models or something that come out on 25th? I don't know.

It was hard to get some of the 20 series cards at launch as well even though they weren't well received. It took awhile before you could find a 2080ti easily. These cards are alot better and demand is higher. I don't expect to have them readily available until at least early next year. Also covid has made most Supply chains worse so I wouldn't be surprised if that is one of the reasons for the shit Supply. It sucks if you absolutely need a card right now but if you don't then I would just wait a couple of months for Supply to catch up with demand.

the 6800 was their challenger, this is most likely a challenger to the 3060, bet you it will fall in like the 5700xt, at the price of a 3060, but beats the 3060 and 3070

RTX 3090 seems available somewhat, but the rest of the lineup is a lost cause until February I think.

And Hopper will very likely follow soon in 2022 Q1 too.

The most ironic thing is that some people pay 3090 prices for the 3080/6800XT when the 3090 is in stock.
