Corsair hx1200i vs Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro 12 1200watts ( or 1500watts )

w33dhit

Hello !

Im wondering if i should wait for the hx1200i to come in stock ( will probably be in stock in a few weeks or next year ) or if i should get the Be Quiet! Dark power pro 12 1200 watts ( though the 1200watts also isnt in stock here in norway so im considering the 1500watts model reccomended by a user GoldenLag )

So here are my specs:

Msi meg z390 ace motherboard

i9 9900k

Msi geforce rtx 3090 gaming trio

32gig g.skill tridentz 3600mhz

Nzxt kraken x72

Corsair ll120 fans ( 4 of them )

Corsair ll140 fans ( 2 of them )

Corsair commander pro

Corsair hx 750i ( 750 watt psu )

samsung 970 evo plus 1tb m.2

samsung 970 pro 512gb m.2

Creative soundblaster z

corsair 570x rgb case

Should i wait for corsair hx1200i , or should i just buy a Dark power pro 12 1500 watts. My plans are to do some overclockings, cpu to 5.0ghz, xmp profile on ram, and graphics card push it a bit, or more than a bit...

Currently i have a corsair hx750i ....

OR, should i get the Dark power pro 11 1200watts, older generation.. its on sale for 200 dollars.

Thanks for answers and sorry for 3 threads in a day..... But i really want to get this right, thanks again !!!

The Dark Power Pro 11 is solid, even if it's not the newest thing on the block. In fact, the HXi isn't either.

I'm assuming you're aware that you're aware that you don't need even close to 1200W though... right? Unless you plan on throwing another 3090 in there, that is.

why not 2000 or 3000w?

your current psu is fine.

With ocing I'd say no. Then it's gonna be close in terms of stability.

In my previous thread people said if i plan oc 750 watts will not be enough, this and some users recommended me 1200 watts or 1000... so to be kind of future proof is why im consediring 1200 or ... 1500.. but ye ill give it some thought

yeah because the AX is worse than the HX and HXi. AXi is the undisputed best PSU that you can relativly easily get your hands on

i recommended it as an entirely unneccesary step up. regular HX or similar would be better. DPP12 is a step down from the best digital Powersupplies. and its a great powersupply. but you really dont have to spend that much on a PSU.

This build will consume just about 750W OC'd at peak i.e under stress tests. In real world usage it would be about 400-600W, your current PSU will be perfectly fine it if wouldn't trip in games which separate consideration not really depending on PSU wattage. Keep it, if it trips then still, 1200W PSU is a complete overkill, 850-1000W is enough. Considering that you're in Norway, Bitfenix Whisper M 850W would probably be the cheapest good pick.

I own HX1200i and no problems here at all.

I am not a fan of BeQuiet,it doesn't mean it's bad but as for HXi series I remember I read everything good before I purchased.

Please do not take offence for my apparent confusion or rudeness,it's not intent me to be like that,it's just my BPD,be nice to me,and I'll return twice better,be rude and usually I get easly pissed of...I'll try to help anyone here,as long as it's something I dealt with, and even if you think I'm rude or not polite, forgive me,  it's not me it's my BPD.

Thanks for understanding.

DPP12 is better than the HXi. and they are both quite overkill. DPP12 would probably occupy somewhere in the top 5 PSUs you can get your hands on.

Corsair only sells the AXI 860, 1500 and 1600, with the 1600W being the current updated model.

Although the AXI 1500 and 1600 are the 2 best PSUs one can buy currently. It's not about the wattage, it's the performance.
