What's on your tech wishlist?

Honestly it's not loud, not while normal reading / writing, you do hear it but I think that's normal for mechanical drives, it's very unobtrusive really... My barracuda was loud and annoying in comparison - I honestly think it's a bit of lottery with hard-drives, though performance is definitely better overall with the x300, and more silent... However it's really *loud* when defragging - which is more funny than anything lol.

Also, naturally, I use this mainly as a video storage drive, and some games, etc, so I record (cache) on my Samsung ssd, then save on the x300, it's really almost inaudible...

^ my pc while idling, I'd say it's rather silent - all you hear is the fans a bit basically (which honestly varies a bit, which again, is quite normal with mechanical stuff I suppose, loudest thing is the stock cpu cooler for sure)

That's great to know and thank you for the video. It's definitely changed my perspective on Toshiba drives. Going to check out the best place to buy them from.

I plan to get an old Thinkpad t440p. The whole suite of upgrades, 1080p IPS panel, the 550 touchpad mod, 500gb samsung SSD, 9 cell battery, with the laptop should be roughly $350-$380. It's got 4th gen Intel, which is the last generation to be socketed. Assuming I don't end up with any realtek or broadcom crap, it should make for the perfect linux laptop for me. I might even coreboot it one day.
