A 3070 OR *gasp* a 6800...

But I'll probably just end up getting a 2070 S, should be good enough for 1080p / 1440p for a long time, hopefully.

Then I'll also need a new PSU...

And a 1440p monitor with 144Hz *variable* refresh rate and G-Sync compatible...

More storage always... A bunch of Seagate BarraCuda 2TB drives would be great. 2TB is the largest 7200RPM model in the seagate barracuda (non pro) line*  to my knowledge.

Another 16GB G.Skill Trident Z 3200 Mhz because 16GB of memory seems barely enough for gaming and productivity at the same time anymore.

I remember Newegg had a crazy deal on gold drives a couple years back where they were something like 50% off.

Sadly they're outside my budget right now and I feel like trusting a single drive with that much data is too much risk as I wouldn't be able to buy multiple of those.

I know, but 2tb is definitly not the limit for 7200rpm

I know that there are larger capacity 7200rpm drives out there, I meant for the Seagate Barracuda (non pro) line specifically. I went back and double checked and unless they just don't have stock here they're all 5400rpm after 3TB but I've not heard good things about odd capacity 3TB drives.

How are Toshiba drives in your experience? I've heard a lot of bad things about them even after they acquired HGST but their prices seem pretty decent so I'd consider one as an option.

I have the exact same drive that @Mark Kaine does (4tb x300) and it has worked perfectly for me. It is quite loud though. In fact, I returned the first one I got because I thought it was broken. But if the occasional loudness from it doesnt really matter to you, I can recommend them.

I am far from an expert in this so please correct me if I’m wrong.

I agree it can be... loud, but only under certain circumstances, in fact I think the only situation where it becomes actually loud is defragging, which I do like once a month.

My Seagate barracuda that I had previously was generally more loud and more often, I have to say I also experience a lot less issues since I don't use the barracuda in my pc anymore. It's in an external enclosure now, and even there it seems to "hang" sometimes, sometimes even to the point where windows becomes completely unresponsive...

It's not a drive I would recommend personally, I like Hitachi and Toshiba a lot more, especially my Toshiba SSHD is now over 10 years old, and still blazingly fast... If I had the choice I'd only use this drive type, however they max out at 1tb capacity and that's not feasible.

Also the x300 are considered more at the higher end, and as such have more value compared to a barracuda, imo !
