No on said they didn't have zero available at launch, just that we'll see more units shipped throughout the year. Whether or not it's a stupid strategy: to each their own.

A few available at launch, really only reviewers got them, then more being available  later is the same thing nvidia did, only difference is nvidia saved themselves with the "unprecedented demand" PR to make investors happy. I don't know how a company wouldn't expect more demand when the previous RTX 2000 cards weren't an upgrade and a lot more people are working from home.

Right. Once AIB cards hit, which would be back loading from the launch of the reference cards. More units shipped throughout the year is what would have happened anyway. Your entire point was that it'd be better than Nvidia's launch, when it clearly is not.

Quote me where I said or implied that the RX 6000 launch would be better than Nvidia's launch. You can't, because I never said that.

You were adamant about quoting someone who said there would be plenty of supply. That's the same thing. Don't try and argue semantics.

Okay, your issues with reading comprehension does not automatically turn this into a semantics debate. You are misrepresenting the point/analysis Kyle made by boiling it down to the "entire point is [the RX 6000 launch] would be better than Nvidia's launch," which is fundamentally counter to the actual quote. Shall we look at Kyle Bennett's (aka FrgMstr) whole quote again, just in case you forgot.

image.png.29912d3186ffa433a6c67f9dc92ddc87.png

  1. "...will be short supply up front"
  2. "Once AIB cards hit, you will see 5 to 7 times the inventory released than what NV has shipped total in NA at this time."
  3. "AMD will be heavily back-loaded into the channel. There will be decent supply through Q4."
  4. "...there is no possible way for AMD to fill the void."

How any of the above is "the same thing" as "better launch than Nvidia / plenty of supply" is your own misunderstanding or intentional misrepresentation (straw man) of Kyle's words.

It's only been 1 week since launch and AIB card launches are imminent, so let's take a step back and see how supply rolls out in the coming week/s. Either this "back-loading strategy" is complete bullshit or we actually see more units shipping relative to RTX 3000. Again, Kyle nor I are saying, "there will be plenty of cards to go around." I've no skin in this game, but I trust Kyle's analysis when he says we'll see way more RX 6000 than RTX 3000 units in circulation in the coming weeks.

Unlikely, unless they use the same Samsung silicone. Which IIRC was new for this series of GPU.

(Edit) Missed this one. Yes, it's the same silicon. Again this is Kyle from HardOCP, not a "different website."

  • 2 weeks later...

My in stock alerts are lighting up for several RX 6800/XT SKUs today. Was able to grab a MSI RX 6800 on my first try. Now I have a RTX 3070 and a RX 6800.. IDK which one I want to keep. 😅
