I can't speak for intercept, but Authotkey uses actual scripts. it's not just about setting a function in a program to a key.

You can code a whole script in authotkey that at the press of a button, can move the mouse to precise locations, press key combinations, execute program shortcuts, execute external shortcuts, switch windows, spawn tasks,  etc... AutoHotkey is basically a programmable bot. Something that takes a lot of time and patience to setup.

It doesn't matter how good the general workflow is, It's how well you can adapt to it and if you can maintain efficiency once you adapt.

So in the process of learning this new workflow, you lose efficiency which results in increased time and cost. If the end result doesn't work in your favor, then its just lost time and money and nothing is gained. You also have to take into account new hires, with Adobe being the king there is a good chance you will need to train anyone in the future you hire, resulting in more time and cost. From a business standpoint, its a high risk decision. For a company like LTT, Adobe makes sense. The current staff is already familiar with it, they already have custom scripts to help automate the workflow, new hires are likely to be familiar with it, and $10k a year is probably nothing compared to everything else.

Well, if they get used to it, they will save a lot, they already have lots of licenses for resolve studio, from the ursa mini 12k, well, it is their opinion, I'm just saying mine

You need to stop fervently recommending this and consider what the others are saying. The time lost in production would be huge, as all the editors will have their own workflow to re-adapt. It really is not as simple as your making it out to be. The potential loss in time could be worth far more than the cost of the subscription.

Then there is their server setup, which is optimised for their current setup for their workflow. Adjusting that will take time and testing just as it has done with current system, which we have seen constant updates on. It is also likely that they have already seen the updated feature list, weighed the time/cost and consider it is not worth it.

Tbf, if you care about performance you're going to have to plug in your laptop... Yes it's kinda false advertising (but only kinda) but if you need the performance you'll need to have it on the wall... 

 

Most people get laptops for the form factor, that they can take it for a stroll, is just a bonus... 

 

(personally my laptop doesn't go out the house, unthinkable, unless I travel, then it still gets plugged in when in use tho!)

Macs run at full power from battery, not for very long but they can do it.

Adobe CS is an entire suite of products that has been built from the ground up to work seamlessly together. You also need to factor in the time to uninstall the adobe software (time that no work would get done, lost revenue) then time to install the new software (more time that no work gets done, also lost revenue) then every one has to learn the new software (reduced productivity, and lost revenue) deal with any bugs/glitches that pop up (again lost productivity, and reduced revenue) From a business standpoint this is just not acceptable. Linus is not a one man show, he isn't doing the editing, or script writing (the words they say, the code they use) etc. He has employees that rely on their jobs to make a living, if they are not making the finished videos then the company loses money, and they don't get paid. Running is a business the size of LMG is more than the whims of on guy, even if he is the founding member. There is so much more to consider.

Davinci Resolve is not as simple to use as people would think. When I first tried it to put together a class project, the moment I tried dragging a video file onto the timeline and it did absolutely nothing (no error message, natta), I immediately uninstalled it. If I had to Google why the heck something as simple as dragging stuff onto the timeline isn't working, forget it, you're done.

I don't care what they use, the videos are good and if it ain't broken don't fix it.

Now, if only they went back to 16:9, the loss of vertical space is not worth it and sometimes they have problems fitting stuff in frame.

Linus' videos are not movies, sometimes I try to scroll back up because I thought I cut the top part of the video lol.

Where are you getting this?

In advanced power options in windows 10 "maximum processor state: On Battery 100%"  This would allow the laptop to use 100% of the CPU power.. the OEM isnt going to use a sub par battery that wont allow full power use. I will concede that in the default state it may not run at 100% but it most certainly can.

Actually Resolve has support for most Adobe plugins. Resolve is also much faster, utilized cores better, and has full GPU acceleration support for all effects. Once you use Resolve after Premiere for years you'll realize just how shitty Adobe products are. I think Taran would love the node based control too

I think they should use what works and right now Adobe works so they don't want to impede business with transitioning the entire staff to a software that they don't know as inside and out.

Linus' team has tremendous experience with Premiere, and any transfer affects their workflow a lot, thus impeding their schedule. Moreover, window resizing is still a problem in Reolve. That said, if Brandon and @LinusTechconvince their team to have a slow transition, they definitely should. 

 

Taran will especially need a long period to port over his Macros.

Maybe good video editing software wouldn't require 100 macro keys, like when Taran with 3 keyboards and better hardware lost to vanilla Final cut

Honestly, that was a thing of visual design as well. iJ's aesthetic requires lesser work and off the shelf graphics, while LTT makes their own from the ground up.

But every macro is just compensating for poor suitability and maybe if they organised their workflow better they could just pull shit from a library rather than having to make everything as they go along.

LTT wouldn't need such a team to do so. They are self-sufficient and I'd like them to keep that going.
