Everyday Use Laptop less than $650

My several year old surface book 1's keyboard base finally gave out on me and I'm in the market for a new laptop. It had an i7 6600U, nvidia 1gb gpu, and 8gb of ram and though it did chug at times, it was overall fine for web browsing and note taking/word processing/excel for my graduate class. I don't need any more than 256gb of storage.

 

For the replacement system, I would prioritize a nice and bright screen and and a good battery as well as something that i can hopefully write handwritten notes on. Any suggestions for under $650?

 

I have a desktop, so I'm open to tablets etc. If there's a good recommendation

I'd wait and see what Lenovo and Dell have on sale for Black Friday. A little out of your budget, but the iPad Air with the keyboard would be pretty solid for handwritten notes.

I would say iPad. Nothing in the sub $650 range of Windows laptops will come close for handwritten notes. Plus they won't have as nice of a screen. It'll most likely be some horrible 768p garbage.

Thanks for the advice. It might be better just to wait and see! The iPad Air with keyboard base storage kind sucks and the storage upgrade is a big price increase too... decisions decisions, but definitely something to think about!

You could probably also get a refurbished Surface Pro for that money. But that's a whole new can of worms I'm not sure you're prepared to dive into. I guess that way you can reuse your current Surface pen. I think they're backwards compatible.

I made it on Canva, and took a screenshot of it because it was easier and there isn't as much watermarks
