Finding stable clock for mixed RAM

I had 2x8gb Gskill running at 2400mhz with 6600K and i bought another set of G Skill but its rated at 3200. What Asus mobo settings do I change to find a decent common speed and what should I look at in CPUZ to ensure its running at the speed. Slots 1 & 3 are the higher speed sticks.

I set the speed in the bios to 3200 for it all but not sure it's running at that. Bios mentioned that the voltage is 1.5 which I think is to high, but i cant see that voltage in cpuz. Setting XMP didn't boot with all 4 sticks.

Please advise

set it to the spec of the slower sticks (in this case, 2400). the faster sticks will *usually* be able to match their spec.

but for future reference: dont ever buy sticks knowing ahead of time you're going to be mixing different speeds, thats like putting drag radials on the back of your car, and dirt buggy tyres on the front.

Some people buy prebuilts, and the only extra stick they have lying around is low speed lol

Feel free to correct me if i'm wrong but since you have two different sticks i'm pretty sure you can't get OC above 2400

I would put the timings manually to 16-15-15-15-35-50 1.25v and give that a go.

If using 15-15-15-15-35-50, must disable gear down mode. While you're there, disable power down mode as well.

Start at 2133mhz and work your way up. It stops when it stops. Go back to last stable bootable and check stability.

- If it ain't broken, don't fix it! - - Your post codes and beep codes in the drop down below -

Spoiler

Putting ram with different timings is a bad idea. So what if people buy prebuild ?

This is like the blind leading the blind. Just dump the 2400 sticks and use the 3200 simply

hey how do i get ryzen 5000 to work on x470?

DON'T BUY IT UNLESS YOU CAN ACTUALLY USE IT TO HOW YOU WANT IT TO WORK.

just stash your old sticks away as spares and replace them with your new ones.

6600K, Asus Z170M+, 1050 ti.

The main reason for the 32gb of ram is so i dont have to close all of chrome tabs when I decide to play some games (mostly warthunder). It stutters often with Chrome and the game open.

Should of bought the same sticks you had in there. Honestly 3200 isnt going to gain you anything on Skylake CPU. I would just return the ram and get the same sticks you had in there
