Not Noctua Enough you said? Meet NB-HV1!

Noctua Fan Fan

I posted a while ago a picture of my recently finished build that I intended to make as 'Noctua themed' as possible. I had this comment on the post that really made me think long and hard about what direction I wanted to take:

image.thumb.png.c8e50131f16bb3e5f50812ba3b6e8865.png

And @Gundarwas 10,000% right. I'd just done a white case and bright lights and put Noctua fans in.

Well. I've spent a lot of time in iCue, fine tuning the colours as best I can. Waiting for custom PSU cables to arrive and adjusting the loop to be as sleek as possible. I can't afford to change the case right now, but I MAY hydrodip, spray or wrap it in the future for extra flare. But for now, I think this is sufficiently Noctua themed. My camera doesn't pick up the beige of the RGB as well as it shows in real life, and I am by no means an expert on photography, so pinch of salt?

Hardware:

10 x Noctua fans

R9 3900XT

Further feedback is appreciated! :)

Do you really need 7 fans as well as the specialised CPU cooler?

I don't mean aesthetically, as I get the need for symmetry.

I just mean from a cooling perspective - isn't 6 fans unnecessary?

Or, can you never really have enough cooling?

Anyway, nice job.

👍

While Noctua fans may be the bees knees, the baby poor brown they come in really turns me off. They are even uglier (if this is possible) than the poop brown colour of the Zune.

Just my opinion of course, but I don't get the desire for brown parts in a PC build Noctua, what were you thinking (that's aimed squarely at Noctura, BTW, not the OP)

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

I mean the next step would be to go hardline and do a paint job to make everything look like a noctua fan.

The best way to answer this question is thusly: "I really like fans".

I've thought about it.

I think that brown liquid running through a PC would make it literally look like shit.

Beige colours are REALLY hard to achieve well, and mixing the colours just right would be too much.

I won't go hardline, I'm not a fan. But if I did this again I'd do a black case and maybe black rubber tubing.

My 2 theories on how the colors were chosen:

1. A 5-year-old chose them

2. The Noctua CEO REALLY likes the color brown.

I don't mind the color too much, since I plan to put mine where it can't be seen.
