AMD GPU accelerated rendering in Davinci Resolve

AMD GPU is supported in Davinci, although may not be faster currently.

Wait for the review of RX6800 in puget specific workstation benchmark.

Hey there,

I am going to upgrade my main editing rig in the next weeks.

I've been holding out on upgrading until AMD announced all their stuff. And boy was it worth the wait.

I just have a quick question to AMD GPU users who run Davinci Resolve.

I've been using "NVIDIA encoder" to export my videos, because it runs way faster and it fixed some corruption issues I had with my exports.

Now my question is, if AMD has similar GPU acceleration technology, and if so how well it works with Resolve.

Because the gaming performance is undeniably great for the price, but I want to know if productivity can keep up, before pulling the trigger on an all red editing rig.

Thanks alot for your help.

Stay safe!

Tim

Unless your programs have specific support for hardware then it not supported.

Keep in mind your davinci resolve program had to add compatibility for your nvidia gpu to work with it. Without it it will treat the gpu as any other non supported gpu.

Also (on my free version) DaVinci resolve doesn't fully utilize gpu. If you switch to the paid version, it does.
