what and why did you name your storage drive

C I didn't cuz windows install. 

F files cuz I put my files on there. Most stuff I actually use. 

G video hard drive so when I record with fraps they go on that hard drive. 

 

I have a bunch of usb stick but don't really use them they much anymore.

I've named my drives after Greek Gods just to give my storage setup a bit of excitement, although it may sound confusing at first, the storage sizes dictates/indicates what the drive is used for.

I love Greek mythology so I thought why not implement some of it into my drives.

 

Atlas (C:)

It's a 500GB OS drive, contains all my Windows files, drivers, and other software that needs to be kept on the fastest (and largest) drive available.

Atlas was the God who was forced to hold the Earth above him, metaphorically, my drive holds the entire OS.

 

Ares (D:)

Ares is a 250GB games drive, although it's looking a bit full...

Ares was the God of war and battle, metaphorically, this drive holds all the gaming spirit!

 

Demeter (E:)

This drive was supposed to be part of a RAID 1 array along with my F: drive but I decided to keep them separate just in case I need to dedicate a drive to a different role in the future. This mainly holds any important data such as YouTube footage that I can use to reference in the future.

Demeter was the God of harvest, metaphorically, she is important to the files that need to be safe and sound.

 

Hestia (F:)

This drive was meant to be part of a RAID 1 array with the above drive but never happened due to the above reasons. Like its sister, it's used as a drive for generally holding important data.

Hestia was the God of hearth, like the drive above, she is dawned with the responsibility of holding important files.

 

 

TL:DR Greek lore implemented into my drives' names, with names that match the drive responsibilities.

boot drive is Sun 

main drive is Earth

second drive is Mars

third drive (game drive) is Mercury 

fourth drive (mostly for artwork and job stuff) is Venus

      Renamed it like a diffrent pc, since this was the game drve from it. Just kept it when I moved drives to origonal PC.

E:/OldGameIsos 500gb

      This is where I keep ripped files from cds. I was origonnally using it for just Old games, but im ripping DVDs and CDs to it now.

F:/Jet ........

Here on down is removable drives, so the letter changes. They will on be G

Im a filthy degenerate and name my systems accordingly so. Thus my main machine carries the name "Gearsy" and thus my drives are named accordingly. So C is "Gearsy's boot drive" and D is "Gearsy's storage drive"

For mine, it's simple :

 

X-System for operating system & applications

X-Storage 1, X-Storage 2, etc... for datas

X-Cache for ZIP temp, Firefox temp, shared folder, etc...

This folder was broken, unable to delete. I had to format the hard disk drive after doing the backup and I found this hard disk drive had bad sectors

 

And it's really surprising what Windows 98 knows about terabytes and petabytes

I name different drives according to the model of the drive I'm using, for example my OS drive is 500 GB Kingston A2000 NVME SSD
so i will name it Kingston A2000 M.2 500GB(manufacturer/model/type of drive/storage capacity)
