Intel damage control .. AMD really hit them hard lol.

 

To be fair, despite how inefficient TECs are, they are the only real compact option for sub ambient cooling.

Still, unless they somehow improve efficiency i don't see them ever taking of.

Video was good but obviously the product is pretty dumb for the majority of people and because its a sponsored video the bad aspects are not really talked about as usual.

This is actually super cool, is the AIO compatible with Intel only? I haven't been able to watch the whole video yet

At least they seem to have some degree or regulation for the TEC.
Unlike most people who just whack it with 12 volts and thinks they are smart, before complaining that TECs are pathetic...

 

Though, TECs have a fairly low coefficient of work, so not really the most optimal method of keeping something cool.

If they release a 10 core or even 8 core CPU that can hit 5.7 GHz out of the box with the included cooler, then Intel might be back in the running.

 

A lot of peeps would prefer the higher clock speeds. - of course, they would need to amend and create software that allows basic users to get the 5.7 GHz.

It's nice to see a big companies making a real shot at peltier based cooling. We've only been toying with these in University, it's hard to find super practical applications. 

 

Now: Does it fit an AM4 socket??

TEC are pretty amazing things.  I use to work with a large format x-ray ccd camera, 2in x 2in sensor.  We'd hook it up to an ultra high vacuum when calibrating or using it.  The cold side got down to something like -40C and the hot side had to be water cooled otherwise it'd easily get above 50-60C.  We had to hook up a water chiller to it, set it to about 4C.  That would get the backplane temp, the hot side, down to about 20-25C.  

I really wish I knew the part number that the camera company used for the TEC cooler :(
