Zen 1 (same as Ryzen 1000 CPUs).

Yes, though ~3000MHz memory nowadays is about the same price as 2400/2666, so I'd look for something a little faster.

Would be surprised if that was am4 it looked old weird form factor and that socket surely looked like an old LGA socket

Reminder⚠️

I'm just speaking from experience so what I say may not work 100%

Please try searching up the answer before you post here but I am always glad to help

it is AM4. Given that it supports Zen +, or 2000 series CPUs, its likely a 400 series Chipset, though HP could have a 300 series with BIOS support.

The chipset is a AMD Promontory FCH but is this a 300 series or a 400 series

Thanks!

That's a Fusion controller hub,not a chipset.

But those controller hubs were primarily used in socket FM2 APUs.

So i guess it's socket FM2.

Edit:

Socket type: AM4

Chipset is not mentioned though.

Sorry, just wanted a variety of answers and that post was dead and the answers was unclear.

Wait until 2020, when the 400 bios update comes out, to support ryzen 5000, and ask hp if it will support ryzen 5000, which will mean it is 400, otherwise 300

Since i answered to you in that thread i will say this:

There was no way to tell what chipset you have with the information you gave us,

therefore i recommend you to contact the manufacturer.

Seems like HP doesn't have plans to support neither Zen 2 nor Zen 3 on that board.

I was looking to buy this https://www.pccasegear.com/products/42784/corsair-vengeance-rgb-pro-16gb-2x8gb-2666mhz-cl16-ddr4-white

It said it was compatiable with AMD 300 and 400 series, thats why I am asking.
My motherboard is an OEM motherboard which can be a hit or miss on buying ram, so I just want to make sure.

Thanks for the reply guys as well.

That depends more on the board than the chipset, who knows what ram kits work on it.

It may or may not work due to the proprietary nature of their business.
