Any input on my PC Build?

AtomicXYZ

Budget: $400 USD

Country: US

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming (most popular games today), Streaming, YouTube video creation

Other details:

Here is my parts list. I want to know if there are any adapters or anything I need to change about the parts to make it cost efficient and performing without much bottleneck. (Note: the CPU and GPU I am buying used on Ebay. I might also swap out the 1600 14nm for a 1600AF 12nm depending on the listings) I also already have a wraith spire from a pervious build and a 2tb HDD I am planning to use for games. Basically just any input on anything would be nice.

Edit: I will probably spend $20 on a wifi adapter as well

For $400 it doesn't get much better but the thermaltake smart is a bit of a bomb

It's too bad a quality PSU is expensive these days. A used motherboard or ram might help shave costs.

I can solidly recommend the cougar MX330 case, very easy to build in and it's got great airflow.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

i've changed the ram for 3000Mhz, as ryzen 1000 and 2000 can't run more than 3000 anyway, and changed the psu to a slightly better one.

otherwise the buld looks good, good luck finding a 580 for just $75, though

What if I put up the budget to $500. How much better could we make the list?

For 500 considering you already have a good list, I would just upgrade the CPU. A used 3600 may be a good deal.

i'd get a second hand 1070 if you increased the budget, and maybe a new ryzen  3100

@AtomicXYZIf your willing to increase the budget to 525 - 550 then this would be a good idea

I'll check that out, but what about a Ryzen 5 2600 as a CPU? Since it has 6 cores and I can get it for about $80 used, would that be a better choice than the 3100

the 3100 is slightly better in gaming, but in the long term the 2600 might come one top. between the 3100 and the 2600, i'd pick the one that's cheaper.

also keep in mind the 1600af is literally a 2600.

Unless you can find a 1600AF for a better deal (It's literally a 2600 lol) That should work fine. It should perform slightly better compared to a 3100.

Here's a great benchmark video on the 2600 vs the 3100. They basically perform identically in gaming.

You could squeeze a used GTX 980 TI in here

I also shaved some cost on the case and ram to make some extra room in the budget. Along with the upgraded CPU it's a neat 1080p 144hz gaming PC.

That's a good idea. I found some used for about $100. I read on benchmark that it should increase the performance by 33% or more

I believe a 3100 single core performance is slightly better than a 1600AF, but they are very similar in performance. It really depends on how the application utilizes the cores.

what about 3100 vs 2600? (Since I can save like $20 -$30 if I chose the 2600)

Go with the 2600. Theres like a 2-3 FPS Diff in most games, and its cheaper w/ 2 extra cores.

If money is an issue, I'd personally go with the 2600. It depends on whether or not you believe a slight single performance core increase is worth the $30. To me, it's not. You can probably overclock a 2600 and meet or exceed a stock 3100 performance.
