vintage telephone that doesn't exist (?)

So basically my friend has shown me a phone that to my surprise i couldn't find anywhere online, seems old (he claims it's from '60) on top of it has written only "cordless telephone, model 129sp FCC ID: " and front sticker claims it was made by "comandare" (unsurprisingly when you look for it you're more likely to find commodore)

honestly at this point it's about pure curiosity, i'm hardly ever seeing something that isn't first result in google

The look of it is more mid-/late-'80s to me. I don't think rechargeable batteries were a household item in the '60s.

A lot of the consumer electronics from that era tend to disappear into obscurity. Many department stores would have their own "brand" (rebrand of other products), so finding a reference might be even harder (who catalogs the history of store brand electronics from the '80s?). Unless it was designed to be maintained (service manuals from the '80s are amazing, though), then attrition would have taken almost all of them out of use before the Internet was even commonplace.

OK, taking a guess at this but I would guess it is from the 80s. 

 

While touch tone phones were available in the early 60s, they really didn't start to become a common thing until the late 70s to early 80s. 

 

It has a battery light which I doubt would be in the 60s model, I would expect a 60s model to only be hardwired.  

 

There is a redial function which I would be shocked if they had something like that in the 60s.  I bet there is a computer chip in there.   While they did have computer chips in the 60s, it wouldn't be something found in consumer goods of the time.

 

As you mentioned, Comandare sounds a lot like Commodore which I think this brand is trying to take advantage of the similarities which again wasn't until the 80s.

Id say later 80s because it doesn't have a big metal telescopic antennae that loved to break if you closed them too fast.

I agree it looks more 80s, early 80s probably, because we had a similar phone but that was way more flashy (however wired) 

 

this is how "mobile" or aka car phones looked in the "60s" btw
