No, why do you say that? The 5960x is still Ryzen. I would normally go for the HEDT because of the motherboard IO, core count, and PCIE lanes but the 5960x has plenty of what I need and also very fast core clocks. Which things like Premiere and AE actually benefit more from than more cores.

My Ryzen 7 2700x still more than handles everything I need to throw at it. I'll wait and upgrade to something new once I actually need to. Maybe I'll wait for the 3000 series prices to drop because of the 5000 series and pick up a 3700x. Or hold off until the next gen drops and do the same with the 5000 series.

Waiting for benchmarks.

I've got an RTX3080 on order, hopefully arriving on December 1st.

I'm planning a full new build & I want something pretty high end, mostly for gaming.

The 5900X will be tempting, but I'm not going to overspend if the performance difference is negligible. Realistically, I don't do any video editing any more, so gaming performance is my main goal.

I'm going for the 5800X, I'm curious to find out how hard it will be to get hold of with the 30 series fiasco, I'm sure it won't be that bad but I'm not taking any chances.
