It has a client mode but I suppose it will only connect to 5ghz networks

AirMax devices can only connect to other AirMax devices.  Its a proprietary modification of the WiFi protocol to be more efficient for outdoor conditions.

So I am planning on using it to connect to an ac (just a normal non Ubiquiti standard isp ac/router) and connecting an ac go the ethernet end of the lbe to bridge a network.

Can station ptp mode be used connect to any ac? or just some specific Ubiquiti devices?

So basically I want to point this to a house and bridge the network elsewhere (I have permission to use the house owner wifi he gave me the password and I just pay a small fee)

AirMax devices are meant to be used with similar AirMax devices to establish a solid PtP bridge. Not sure how it would work as a long range wireless antenna. You'd have to test it to see.

This TP-Link CPE doesn't have that limitation.

I have the gen 1s and it really is amazing what I can get out of them as I'm using them completely against the instructions (through a tree and a thick wall).
