Asus WS C621E SAGE Dual Xeon 3104 CPU's not Booting stuck at Q code EE (NON-ECC mem)

Go to solution Solved by sndstone,

I have bought 2 stick off ecc ram and it all works still strange that in single cpu mode non ecc ram works but not with both.

Hi Guy's, I'm having a problem with my Asus ws bord that I cannot find a solution of workaround for. When both cpu's are installed I get stuck at Q code EE and within the manual ASUS states: reserved for future AMI codes.

I have tested every memory channel config as far as I think I can and looked for dead pins but nothing to see.

I have tested both cpu's in socket 1 witch both work but when I add the second one in socket 2 stuck at code EE again. Only populating socket 2 seems to do nothing is this normal for a dual socket board I expected not to work but at this point I don't know how to get my non-ecc mem to work with both cpu's

The reason I wanted to use my non-ecc ram is because I have a lot off memory lying around the house and it would be a waste to not use it.

I have contacted Asus but maybe someone on the forum has an Idea thx in advance.

Not really normal.

Cpu 2 have power?

Have you tried to boot the board with just a processor in socket 2?

Have you tried EEC memory yet?

Do you get any beep codes when this happens?

ThX for te help and yeah there is power to cpu 2 and the board is just dead when socket 1 is empty. The only thing I haven't tested is ecc mem. Hope not and because it works in single cpu mode with non ecc mem had hopes.

I figured, but just wanted to ask.

Have you checked the bios revision? Maybe it needs an update.

The board has an issue then. Not sure what else can be tested here.
