Be quiet 500dx vs Lian Li Lancool II Mesh vs Phanteks P500A NON-RGB vs MSI Sekira 100P

Wojciech S

Hello,

I'm planning to build a new PC during upcoming month.

I decided to get R9 5950X and RX 6800XT, but I can't decide which case I want to buy. I've been thinking about these four but if you think there is some better chassis for me then feel free to suggest it. I would also like to point out that I don't like RGB too much, I don't want my PC to look like a Christmas tree. I will be using Noctua U14-S as my CPU cooler.

What do you guys think? Which case is the best?

Regards,

WS

Yeah, another vote for the Lancool II, I have the RGB vomit one, but I don't really care about that so much, you can turn it off anyway :D

The chassis is very nice to build in IMO, and I've built in quite a few cases in my day. Just watch out for the top part under the IO/switches it can cut your hand up as I found out. Another piece of advice, if you do decide to use an AIO test fit for reach to the CPU before installing the rad, then mount the rad but leave it a little loose... then you can install the CPU mount with ease, then tighten the rad screws... much easier.

Thanks for your suggestions. Are Lian Li Lancool II Mesh and Phanteks 500A NON-RGB noticeably bigger and heavier than Be quiet 500dx?

I'd like to have my PC on the desk.

Nobody saw that you replied, you need to quote someone or @ their name for them to see it.

I wouldn't say there's much between them TBH, but if worried you won't have enough space on the desk, have a look at their spec.

The Lancool 2 Mesh is similar size to the 500DX, the P500A will be slightly larger as it shares the same frame as the P600S and Evolv X.

Thank you for your replies.

I ordered Be quiet 500dx anyways, because it's the only case available in Poland at the moment. It'll be just fine.

Thoughts on Fractal Design Meshify C? Temperatures, airflow, build quality vs 500DX?

Temps and airflow out of the box for the 500DX are better than the Meshify C, but thats because it comes with larger fans which provide more airflow.

Build quality, they look on par with each other, I've only worked with a Define C interior so I only have experience with Fractal's build quality (which I thought was very good)

I have one, and I don't use it any more. I thought the build quality was crap TBH... some of the screw holes were not aligned very well on the side panels, and PSU. Temp and airflow were OK, but prefer the Lain Li Lancool II for everything I mentioned, with the Lancool II the build quality is superb, temps are very good too IMO.

Thank you Guys for your thoughts. Finally, I bought Be quiet 500dx because it was noticeably cheaper and it is smaller, more compact than Lian Li Lancool II Mesh. I think we could close this topic now.

One last question though, I have Be quiet 500DX in front of me. It has 3 fans, 1 in front, 1 in the back and 1 on top. Will it be better if I take the top fan and mount it in the front as a second fan?

I would almost always opt for this, IMO it's better to have a big positive fan pressure, in some case like my new silverstone GD08B it only has intake fans, no blowers at all, to hopefully stop dust entering the case.

I haven't built it all yet as I'm still waiting on my 32GB of RAM to come (today or tomorrow should be), but I might put some spare modules in there for testing until my new stuff gets here.
