Can i run the upcoming new ryzen series on the Asus Prime X570-P

wolfff
Go to solution Solved by mahyar,

if that motherboard doesn't run ryzen5000 idk what will

so i looked rlly hard n long and choose to buy the

Asus Prime X570-P motherboard. its a TIER A motherboard so thats good enough for me.

but i was wondering, will i be able to run the new ryzen 5000 series on it? because i heard alot of people in the past talking about having a 450b mobo and not being able to run a ryzen 3000 series on it (and having to update or change mobo wich ion even know how to do)

aka if i buy this motherboard and the brand new ryzen processor when it releases, will it be compatible? or will i have alot of problems.

Apparently AMD released a bios update that added support for zen 3 before it was announced for 500 series boards, so if the board shipped with it, it'll work with zen 3 chips, if the board happened to ship with the old bios and it didn't support zen 3 agesa code, you'll need a zen 2/ zen+ chip so you can update the bios, because sadly the board does not have a bios flashback button, do you already have this board? if not, budget? and what are you powering? and location and currency? though assuming you're limited to this one, it's a decent board.

PC: Motherboard: ASUS B550M TUF-Plus, CPU: Ryzen 3 3100, CPU Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34, GPU: GIGABYTE WindForce GTX1650S, RAM: HyperX Fury RGB 2x8GB 3200 CL16, Case, CoolerMaster MB311L ARGB, Boot Drive: 250GB MX500, Game Drive: WD Blue 1TB 7200RPM HDD.

Peripherals: GK61 (Optical Gateron Red) with Mistel White/Orange keycaps, Logitech G102 (Purple), BitWit Ensemble Grey Deskpad.

Audio: Logitech G432, Moondrop Starfield, Mic: Razer Siren Mini (White).

Well as i said, this board is decent, but yea if it happened to ship with the old bios, you'll need a supported cpu to update it, or you can ask a computer store to update it for you.

But..

To name some boards that are around the 160ish euros, or the b550 strix f or the tomahawk if you can go for those, they're also decent, all of these do have a bios flashback button so if they happened to ship with the old bios, you can update it without needing a cpu to be installed, but if you want/ can't go with them, the x570 prime p is decent. though again it does not have a bios flashback button.

alright! so the b550 pro aorus gigabyte one is pretty nice and also a tier A. but i have one question, does it matter if its x570 or b550? whats the biggest difference, are they both future proof enough? i wont be overclocking

Yep, that's the same thing as the b550 tomahawk that i talked about, pretty good board.

The main difference is that b550 allows the lanes that are wired to the cpu to be gen 4, while the lanes that are wired to the chipset is gen 3, with x570, it's gen 4 across the whole board.

and what if i still went with the asus and if i got a friend with a zen 2 i could update the bios with if needed. should i still go for asus? or go msi.
i have had some msi mobo issues in the past and a friend of mine said msi mobos fucked him over aswell so i am kinda scared to go msi. but maybe its all justs unlucky

For the most part, unless you need the extra gen 4 lanes from the chipset, no.

you'll already get enough lanes for the gpu and drive (assuming they're gen 4).

All the boards i listed above are good, the tomahawk is also good.
