I meant the 6800xt

Also do we have slides for the 6800?

Totally missed it and only info I'm finding rn is 6800xt

6900XT and the 6800XT both have the same Total Board Power so I'm guessing it won't be that far off?

AMD "super resolution" might be it.

Nah, I don't think they have an equivalent yet...

Super resolution is just basic up/down scaling.

DLSS is very different using AI, allegedly!

If super resolution can perform the same as DLSS, then it's an equivalent to me. Doesn't matter if they do it by AI or not.

As an additional thought, anyone care to go through the games used by AMD. Were any of those historically "nvidia leaning" or "AMD leaning"? Are there titles NOT on the list that could be more interesting to look out for?

I think this is one of the important things to keep in mind with these benchmarks, along with some other points.

1) Most if not all of the games AMD picked have been "AMD leaning". It's no coincident that they picked games like Battlefield (AMD and DICE are very close partners and even codeveloped Mantle) and Tomb Raider (also AMD partners which often implements AMD libraries).

I am not sure if Doom Eternal favors AMD though. I don't think it does.

2) These are AMD benchmarks. Remember when Nvidia said they doubled performance, and it turned out to only be true in certain situations? Expect the same thing here. First party benchmarks are almost always skewed to illustrate whichever point the marketing team wants, not what real world, independent tests will show. For example they might run the same test over and over, getting slightly different results. Then they pick the best result for their card, and the worst result for the card they compare it against. Or maybe they try different sections of a game until they find whichever section shows the most favorable results for their card. Card A might have a 10% performance lead in most of the game, but in one particular section the performance difference is only 5%. Which part of the game do you think they will benchmark for their first party results? The 5% one of course, even if that might be an exception in the game.

3) The benchmarks appear to be using Smart Access and Rage mode. According to AMD themselves, those two things brings something along the lines of 8% higher performance. So if you don't have the latest AMD processor and latest AMD motherboards to pair with your latest AMD GPU, you can by AMD's own admissions shave off about 8% performance from their tests.

The point is, wait for third party reviews from trusted sites like AMD and TechPowerUp before making your minds up about how good or bad the RX 6000 series is.

Yeah that's my point, it does not, it's just basic upscaling (which is always very poor)

DLSS, again, is very different, allegedly!

All three cards look competitive. Benchmarks should be taken with a healthy dose of salt, but didn't seem unduly slanted.

Is AMD's "Smart Access Memory" another name for Microsoft Direct Storage? Interesting if it can take advantage of pci-e 4.0 storage as a game cache.

If the 6800 has twice the memory of a 3070 for 50 more bucks and preforms on par with the 3070 I think its what I will be getting and as a bonus amd cards are actually usable on linux

It's a bit difficult to do because

a) AMD is using their Ryzen 5000 CPUs for benchmarks I believe

b) Some of these games don't have built-in benchmarks, and FPS can vary a lot depending on where you are in a game

I'm assuming we'll get independent reviews the week of launch day

yes of course, but generally their numbers seem realistic and nothing is crazy off.

They *have* to have something like that.

NV does it

New consoles do it

If they didn't have that for their new "flagship" dGPUs they may as well just not launch at all. :)

No, Smart Access Memory is something different, but AMD will support DirectStorage.

Thanks for reading all this by the way!

By the way, my desktop is a docked laptop. Get over it, No seriously, I have an exterrnal monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, ethernet and cooling fans all connected. Using it feels no different to a desktop, it works for several hours if the power goes out, and disconnecting just a few cables gives me something I can take on the go. There's enough power for all games I play and it even copes with basic (and some not-so-basic) video editing. Give it a go - you might just love it.

Do you guys think that the amount of cores and threads might mean a greater boost while combaining it with a 6000series card? For example will 5800x boost numbers be higher then the 5600x due to the 5800x having 2 more cores?
