Low FPS on RTX 3080

LYPTUS

As far as I know, AT STOCK, the RTX 3080's temperature target is around 70*C ~ 75*C.

Latest drivers also "cap" the GPU core frequency to ~2000 MHz Boost.

From the sounds of it, your RTX 3080 is performing as expected.

Next is the CPU + RAM.

Have you verified that your RAM is actually operating at 3200 MHz?

Check CPU-Z 'Memory' tab; it should say ~1600 MHz is XMP / DOCP was properly enabled, and working.

82*C ~ 83*C on the CPU is a bit on the warmer side of things, but still within safe temperatures.

Have you monitored how your CPU is behaving, frequency wise?

If the CPU throttling in any way?

Make sure you are also running your game(s) in Full-screen mode.

Not Windowed Mode. Not Borderless.

Yeah thats the exact same card I have. If I crank everything to the max I get even less than 60... Did you try Warzone? What CPU are you running?

Haven't tried with Warzone. I'm using an i7 8700k.

Sziasztok,

Miután sokáig játszottam a Warzone-t a MacBook-on, úgy döntöttem, hogy végre elegem van az alacsony FPS-ből, és megépítettem az első számítógépemet.

Hardver:

Ryzen 5 3600X

2x8 DDR4 3200

Sharkoon SilentStorm Cool Zero 650w

M.2 NVME for Windows, SSD egyes játékokhoz és HDD a nagy könyvtárhoz.

Most kb. 120 kép / mp sebességet kapok 1440 képpontban, ami túl alacsonynak tűnik számomra, tekintve, hogy mások 170 körül mozognak ugyanazokon a beállításokon (youtube videók). Ráadásul továbbra is az a kérdésem, hogy az fps-em minden második játéknál 50 fps körül jobbra esik, ami nagyon rossz élmény, amíg újra nem indulok. Ekkor a GPU-m körülbelül 50% -kal, míg a CPU-m mindig 40-60% -on van.

Ezen a ponton úgy érzem, abba kellene hagynom a pénz dobását a problémára, és rájönnöm a kérdésre. My 3D Mark mutató szintén az alsó 1% 5 3600 és a 3080. Itt van az egyik legújabb fut: https://www.3dmark.com/spy/14812219

A GPU-Z a "VRel, VOp" -ot mutatja a teljesítménykorlátozás okaként.

this was my problem too but i reinstalled windows yesterday and now it runs perfectly

Multiplayer: Ultra RTX OFF  250-270Fps

Warzone:    Ultra RTX OFF 145-180Fps

My CPU is not throttling frequency wise.

Thermals like you said arent optimal but they surely shouldnt be limiting me.

I am of course running in fullscreen.

Im sure I'd see better FPS with a high end processor but I didnt expect performance this bad with the R5 3600X...

It seems that NVIDIA has acknowledged the Issue with Warzone - apparently, performance on the 3000 series will be fixed with the next driver issue.

Coming from an "NVIDIA Forum Representative".

The Fix being discussed in the thread is only for frametime issues/stuttering and doesnt actually improve fps.

The Release Notes for the last driver also mention this as known issue:

Windows 10 Only [Warzone][RTX 30 series]: Users may see a drop in performance during gameplay.[3132127]

FPS is correlated to frame time...

60 FPS = AVERAGE 16.67ms frame time

144 FPS = Average 6.94ms frame time

FPS = Average number of frames or frame time over the period of 1 second

I am very much aware. But the issue that is addressed here is that of inconsistent frame times that lead to microstutter (1% lows) and not a general FPS decrease.

Hmm yes I’ve noticed that when my issue occurs my GPU time is 15MS and when the issue doesn’t occur I get 6MS.

is this the issue Nvidia are aware of then? Or if not does anyone else have a fix? :)

From the notes, that appears to be the fix in the next upcoming drivers.

If you have inconsistent frame times and frequent spikes, then you'll have stutters, FPS dropouts, etc.

I've been having the exact same issue with my RTX 3080 TUF OC. Garbage performance all around. I've tried every single thing. And I know its not the CPU bottlenecking as my 5700 XT has beat its performance in several games. DDUing like 4-5 times did help but the performance is still horrible. It has to be a driver issue. I've reseated and reconnected the GPU, DDU'd multiple times, checked and made sure I'm in dual channel (I was in Quad and removed 2 sticks to see if it was the issue, 0 difference), XMP is on at 3200mhz stable since forever, the card is correctly running at PCIe x16 lanes 3.0. DSR is off (I tried it with it on too). The odd thing is I do get 11,498 on Port Royal, which is a bit less than the average of 11,533 but still not off. Temps are good for me, even on 3DMark Benchmarks the 3080 doesn't go above 65C. I spoke with the Asus rep on FB and literally explained everything I've tried and done with him and he says he thinks its drivers.

Assassin's Creed Odyessy 1440p Ultra: 30-80 FPS, 57 FPS average (Worse than 5700 XT by far)
Watchdogs Legion 1440p Ultra DLSS Quality ON: 29-70 FPS (47 Avg), DLSS OFF 29-66 FPS(46 Avg)
Death Stranding 1440p Ultra DLSS Quality ON: 101-115 FPS, DLSS OFF 101-114 FPS
Red Dead Redemption 1440p Ultra MSSA/FXAA OFF: 26-88 FPS (70 Avg)
Forza Horizon 4 1440p Ultra MSSA/FXAA OFF: 94 FPS Avg (Worse than 5700 XT)
Horizon Zero Dawn 1440p Ultra: 77-79 FPS Avg (Just like 3-4FPS more than my 5700 XT)
BFV 1440p Ultra + Raytracing performs right at 90-100FPS, but with Raytracing off it should be around 140-150...but instead its the exact same with RT on.
Warzone is always between 80-100.

I'm in the same boat also. Recently got the evga 3080 xc3 and the performance is shit. It was so bad that i RMA'd my first card and the second is the same pile of shit. I get the same performance as my 1080 sc which I have had for 4 years now. I also have an AX860 PSU.

I am only running a 6700k and no it is not bottle-necking my 3080 to the performance level of a 1080.

The 3080 is a pile of poop and if this is not fixed by the launch of Cold War Friday I am returning this pile of poop. I will look into getting a 6900xt. I have been PC gaming/building for almost 20 years and the 3080 is the biggest disappointment Ive encountered.

Hi everyone,

After playing Warzone on my MacBook for a long time I decided that I finally had enough of low FPS and built my first PC.

Hardware:

Ryzen 5 3600X

2x8 DDR4 3200

Sharkoon SilentStorm Cool Zero 650w

M.2 NVME for Windows, SSD for some Games and HDD for large Library.

At first I got myself hands on a 2060 Super as I wanted to wait for the 3070. With that one I honestly did not have a great experience. I was aiming for 1440p in Warzone and I was averaging around 70 fps at low settings. However, every other game, FPS dropped to 40s and 50s. Making it basically unplayable. I figured it was the GPU and bought a Gigabyte RTX3080 Gaming OC.

I am now getting around 120fps in 1440p which seems way too low to me, given that others get around 170 at the same settings (youtube videos). Moreover, I still have the issue that my fps drops down to right around 50fps every other game, making it a really bad experience until I restart. My GPU is then at around 50% use while my CPU is always at around 40-60%.

At this point I feel like I should stop throwing money at the problem and figure out the issue. My 3D Mark Score is also in the bottom 1% for a 5 3600 and the 3080. Here is one of my latest runs: https://www.3dmark.com/spy/14812219

GPU-Z is showing "VRel, VOp" as Performance Cap reason. Temps are at around 70-75 degrees.

At this point my only guess would be the power supply being too weak but as I said. I dont just wanna throw money at the issue anymore. Could this be the reason?

Thanks!

Edit: XMP is enabled and I did DDU when getting the new card.

Dude, the 3080 likes low tempertures, same goes for most new cards like 5700xt, if u can get the temperture 65C or below ur card will boost to its max, mine does boost to 1980mhz without problem, i can run bf4 at 4k at medium settings and get 200 fps nonstop without stutters.

I would either get more front fans that can blow more cool air into your case or just get a bigger case with much more airtflow.

Same goes for the 5700xt, if uu can the temp around 60C ur card can boost to 2000+..

Also u can change ur gpu fans curves, if it hits 60C set fans to 80%, that did the trick for me after adding more fans and otimising the airflow in my case..

Hello Guys,

so it seems like i have a similiar problem. I also have a RTX 3080 Gigabyte Gaming OC and mine doesnt want to exceed the Power limit of 300 Watts which is really odd.

A friend of mine has exactly the same GPU and he has a power usage of 320-370 Watts and Timespy Scores of 17800-17900(GPU Score) with a Ryzen 3600.

I on the other hand have only scores of 15500-16000. And as i said i cant exceed 300 Watt Power draw. Using GPU-Z, i am limited in start and end of the benchmark bei Vrel and Vop and in between the whole Benchmark by Pwr.

i have also an 3600 on a X570 with a 750 Watt PSU.

@LYPTUS Can you please check what your GPU Bios is? Mine is 94.02.26.08.43

And please activate your Silent Bios over the Bios Switch of the GPU.

I am pretty sure Gigabyte fucked up the Bios of some Gigabyte GPUs. MY OC Bios is only consuming 300 Watt(instead of 370), while my Silent Bios is consuming is 330 Watts what should be in the range of the Targeted 345.

Considering all the fixes i tried so far and the fact, that my mate having the exact same card but with a different Bios and he is getting full 350-360 Watts of power draw i cant find any other explanation besides a physical defect, that could explain this shitshow.

My guess was that this is a bios thing but i think its a defective Graphics card now. I contacted Gigabyte 1,5 weeks ago but still didnt recieve any response by them.

Hey guys I got exactly the same problem. My Gigabyte GeForce RTX3080 Gaming OC runs with 260W! So for example in Battlefield V with all settings on ultra I got about 85-100 FPS (temperature is even below 60° C). In comparison to some youtube videos they got about ~170 FPS with the founders edition.

What I tried:

- deinstalling driver with DDU and reinstall - no change

- deinstalling driver with DDU and reinstall older driver - no change

- splitting consumption in PSU on multi rail (two different adapter for each 8 PIN connector) - no change

- bios update - no change

I will visit a friend today evening who got the same card and it is running perfectly there. I will install mine there and see if there is something wrong with the card or with my setup.

Would be awesome if you keep us updated @predestruction as soon as you have any news from gigabyte support.

Thanks a lot!

Damn got the exact same issues Literally only just got the 3080 zotac holo and hardly runs better than my vega 56. Turned all settings down to low in warzone and still struggles to get 120fps with spikes and lows of 50, Cyberpunk isnt much better but dont think that plays well on anything.. I play on 1440p with a ryzen 5 2600 which i know would limit it a bit but even on videos i watched it didnt slow down as much as im seeing, Pretty dissapointed and hopeing for a fix or hopefully they will take this card back. Gonna reinstall windows at the weekend and endless scroll through more forums like this for a fix. it also beeps on load up and shut down 4 times not sure that is normal

I literally have the same issue with a slower RAM. But i dont expect this to run this slow even with that.

HyperX Ram 1x16GB 2400MHz

Z390 AORUS ELITE

i7 9700k

RTX 3080 GIGABYTE GAMING OC

I get about 45fps in cyberpunk with RT ON and 50 regardless of settings with RT off.
