2080ti is exactly the same as 3070

SAVE12HK

to be honest , 3070 is a bit disappointed

new architecture, new rt cores being same as a existing gpu, ( why not put the 2080ti at $800 in very first place and drop to $500 today)

You're disappointed that the newly released mid range XX70 card which costs $500 performs the same as the last generation flagship XX80 Ti card which cost $1200?

Yeah, why's the GTX 1650 slower than a Quadro 8000? It's newer so it should be faster right?

If you ask the buyer, and the seller, then yes - because there were buyers

When no buyers, you lower price.

I, personally, do not*. Which is why I did not buy one. Lots of people did though.

Is your complaint about the performance of the RTX 3070 or the price of the now discontinued RTX 2080 Ti?

*I also have a 1080Ti which is serving my needs just fine, so I wasn't planning on upgrading regardless

i'll agree that turing was priced poorly and all that but ampere is still pretty decent of an improvement. similar to how the 1070 matched the 980ti, except the vram differences and actual power efficiency gainz. the 3070 just ends up being a 2080ti thats a bit more power efficient and with less vram, plus it doesnt get gddr6x like the other ampere cards. subjectively, insanely good in comparison to turing, but just decent compared to previous generations. considering how much older flagships have depreciated just a few years after release, the 1080ti will probably still fetch 300-350 bucks used which is pretty damn good for its age

topics i need help on:

basically everything was bought used off of reddit or here, only new component was the case. absolutely nutty deals for some of these parts, ill have to tally it all up once it's "done" :D

I kinda am, considering the 1070 launched at $379usd, the xx70 cards have been overpriced since the RTX 20 series.

because people are still buying them at $1200. There is only one reason for Nvidia to lower prices, when demand is lower than supply by a lot. This does not apply to 2080Ti.

Unless Nvidia wants to give every seller rebates, they can never make retailers lower prices that much over time. Retailers can price gouge if they want to without paying Nvidia more, but it doesnt work the other way round.

The 2000 series card has rubbish price to performance ratio, especially the 2080Ti. Anything compares to rubbish will appear looking good.

Next time Nvidia launches RTX4080 for $1000, and beat the RTX3090 for 10%. People will jump around and admire Nvidia gives us a super bang for the buck GPU.

Nvidia brainwashing is really powerful.

well actually im happy with my 2080ti, if i could chose between 3070 and 2080ti choice would still be 2080ti (if ignoring the price ofc)

-> More VRAM

-> Higher Overclocks

Ofc this is not worth more than twice the price, but a 2080ti is still better than a 3070.
