Really fast internet with low ping, But I am rubberbanding all the time in games

I am constantly rubber banding when I am playing Rocket league (or any other online game) but My ping never spikes. My ping usually sits around 17-20 and when the rubber banding happens it never spikes up. This is why I think its some kind of issue with my pc. I live on a college campus so unfortunately I don't have access to the modem.

Troubleshooting I have tried:

  • Updating my bios, and all my drivers
  • Reset my cpu overclock to default
  • Reinstalled the game
  • Disabled Dynamic Tick
  • Messed around with my Wifi adapter settings

Any suggestions would help a lot!

Surely it's a case of "its not you its them"

I don't play rocket league so I don't know how it works but can't you just choose another server to play on?

Looks like you're testing with a local speedtest server within the uni's network so of course it's going to be super fast, but that doesn't mean it is to the outside. Try other servers in the vicinity.

If you're looking at the ping in game... well some packets may be delayed somewhere in the campus network and there's nothing you can do about it.

So basically you can choose what servers you play on, im on the east coast so i obviously choose US East. there not really too broad when it comes to server choices its just US East and US West.

+1, pick a SpeedTest server that isn't hosted by any North Carolina university, community college, public school, or hospital system. All of those are probable MCNC / NCREN (North Carolina Research and Education Network) customers. Those SpeedTest results aren't actually hitting the Internet at any point; you're on the NCREN and so is that server.

I would say it's highly likely that your UNC campus is either blocking or at the very least not prioritizing gaming traffic. MCNC doesn't by default block anything, but they do encourage and assist their customers with keeping nonessential traffic like this off the NCREN as much as possible. YMMV, but it doesn't shock me this isn't working very well. 🙁
